Diagnosis of the child

Treacher Collins syndrome, congenital ear anomalies, bradycardia, alalia

Treacher Collins syndrome (TCS) is a genetic disorder characterized by deformities of the ears, eyes, cheekbones, and chin. The degree to which a person is affected, however, may vary from mild to severe. Complications may include breathing problems, problems seeing, cleft palate, and hearing loss.

Congenital ear anomalies are birth defects that affect the shape and position of the ear. These conditions can involve the soft cartilage around the ear along with other structures that affect both the function and appearance of the ear. These anomalies can also cause significant social impairment.

Bradycardia is a slower-than-normal heart rate. One of its most common types is sinus bradycardia, where the heart rate is lower than 60 beats per minute.

History of the child

Lisa Puhalskaya is a special girl. She lives with a rare Treacher Collins syndrome, a genetic disorder characterized by deformities of the ears, eyes, cheekbones, and chin. The disease was revealed at birth, but doctors gave disappointing forecasts.

But that’s not enough: the syndrome triggered middle ear hearing loss. Hearing reduction in child age should be treated and supplied immediately, as it hinders further language development and thus the entire development. Despite all the efforts, Lizaveta couldn’t be treated in the home. Hope has been found by parents in Israel. There you can do the required surgical procedure – ear shell reconstruction with use of the Baha ® bone conduction implant. The operation costs 57 148 EUR.

With the BAHA system, a vibrating transducer is directly connected to the skull bone, of which the cochlea is an integrated part. This principle of DBC provides a more or less direct and clear transmission pathway to the cochlea. The BAHA surgery is, however, a minor surgical procedure and does not in any way interfere with the hearing organ so there are no risks of damaging the ear or the residual hearing.

“I am so proud of my daughter: despite all the adverse circumstances, she never lost her laugh! This infinite joy of life gives me strength to keep fighting. 57 148 EUR… we can’t do it. The only thing that remains me is asking for help!” — Julia, Lisa’s mother says.

Let’s help the girl to hear this world fully!
