History of the child

Six-year-old Masha Skripko weighs only 12 kg and cannot walk. The girl has cerebral palsy since birth.

Rh incompatibility has resulted in destruction of the fetus’s red blood cells and Masha was born at 32 weeks. Just after the birth the child was affected by jaundice, also known as icterus. It was only the beginning: new and new diseases were found, one operation was followed by another, hope gave way to despair. It is fortunate that Masha’s parents – Elena and Alexander – have found the rehabilitation center in Novozybkov (Russia).

“We are ready to fight for our daughter’s life and make every effort to help her. We have understood that crying will not mend matters, hard work will.”

Masha and her mother get up at 5 am. Exercises, special food, constant walks – that’s how their struggle looks like. And it bears its fruit: Masha makes progress.

But now the family needs both a wheelchair and rehabilitation. Und it’s impossible for them to collect the necessary amount on their own.

“We have to make a choice: either a wheelchair or rehabilitation. Rehabilitation will enable Masha to hold a spoon and a fork. But for rehabilitation we need a wheelchair.”
