Cerebral palsy (CP) is a disease of the central nervous system that damages one (or some) parts of the brain. As the result it causes non-progressive disorders of motor and muscle activity, coordination of movements, visual, hearing, and speech and psyche functions.

History of the child

Arina’s mother asked for help UNIHELP in buying a wheelchair for her elder daughter. At birth Arina was diagnosed cerebral palsy, IV spastic quadriplegia, convulsive syndrome.

Arina is a 10 year old girl but she has already been treated at Children’s Hospital in Borovliany, regional center “Nivica” in Gomel, “Tonus” in Brest, at Center for Medical Rehabilitation of Children with Psychoneurological Diseases in Minsk on Voldograskaya street. In 2010 and 2013 Arina was operated on clipping tendons in Tula.

Despite the fact that it’s difficult for a child to keep her head and to do anything with hands, she can show everything that she needs with the help of her eyes. She can pronounce “mom”, “Nika”, “baba”, “go” and “Am”. Now she is treating at the rehabilitation center for handicapped children in Minsk on Sevastopalskaya street.
